Bacolod’s Palacio Episcopal (The Bishop’s Palace)

The Palacio Episcopal, also known as the Bishop’s Palace, is one of the many “passersby attractions” in Bacolod. It was established by Fr. Julian Gonzaga 46 years prior to building the San Sebastian Cathedral in 1876, which is located right beside it. The construction of the Palacio Episcopal commenced in 1830 and it was finished in the 1890’s. Notably, the Spanish Military and civic officials sought refuge in the Bishop’s Palace during the revolution in 1898 which started on November 5 – now known as the Cinco de Noviembre Revolution.

The Bishop’s Palace is considered as one of Bacolod’s architectural landmark. It is located along Rizal Street (Address: Rizal Street/P.O. Box 141 & 152 6100, Bacolod City), fronting the Bacolod City Plaza. About 150 meters going west one will reach Manokan Country and further away is SM City Bacolod.

  2. Emily Joy Legados says:

    Hi,

My friends and i will be in Bacolod and it seems we are not decided yet where to stay for our sojourn at your place. Where is the best hotel/inn that is just a few minutes away from all the tourist spots? Looking forward to your reply… Thanks!

    • Emily,

Check out Bacolod Pension Plaza (rooms from P800), Bascon Hotel (rooms from P650) and Royal Am Rei (rooms from P950). If you want a high-end hotel, go for L’Fisher Hotel (rooms from P3000).
