Coco Palms Resort Danao

Coco Palms Resort Danao has budget-friendly accommodations, two swimming pools, clean surroundings, and very friendly staffs. It has a free wi-fi (wireless internet) and a nice reception building with coffee tables. The resort is comparable to Almont Resort in Surigao, Emars Wave Pool in Davao and Bahay Bakasyunan in Camiguin.

Because of its huge property, at about 20,000 square meters, Danao Coco Palms Resort is also ideal for birthday parties, team building and weddings. They also accept day-use customers but they are only allowed to used the main pool – the one with a slide. The other swimming pool at the back – the one with jacuzzi – is only for clients with room accommodation. Surrounded by lush greeneries, Coco Palms Resort in Danao City boasts its white-sand beach (probably artificial or man-made) and its water park. Notably, only a few people will try inflatables in the water park because in most times of the day the sea waves are very strong due to the large ships passing by. Maintaining your balance while in the inflatable is a challenge and climbing is already a dare.

Got its name from the enormous trees found in the Philippines, Coco Palms Resort is encouraging everyone to take care of nature and be intimate with it. The clean surroundings, tidy rooms, and well-groomed staffs are some of the reasons you will love this place. The rooms has Cable TV, Air-conditioner, Refrigerator, Hot/Cold Shower, Safety Box and a Mini Bar.

Danao Coco Palms Resort is an easy landmark because most of the folks living in the area knows it. From the North Bus Terminal you can take a bus going to Danao or further, just tell the driver to drop you at Coco Palms because it is just along the highway. It is about 1-2 kilometers before the main part (city hall, market, church) of Danao City, so if you pass by the area you already know that the driver forgot your instruction. You can take a tricycle back to the area. Going to Coco Palms using your private vehicle is a good option. Prior to the resort you will notice another nice resort named El Salvador. Just a few kilometers after El Salvador going north, you will notice the huge doors and signage of Coco Palms.

I stayed for several nights, February 2016. I booked this “resort” because it advertised numerous times “FREE in room WIFI”. There is NO WIFI and I find out from management that there has not been WiFi for over 5 months, but “they are sorry”. It also advertises housekeeping, but over four days we had no housekeeping, but management says “we’re sorry”. They also advertise hot water, but the hot water is so so, but management says “we’re sorry”. Advertised free breakfasts, but management argued tooth and nail about this, but they were sorry! It is all clear as day on my invoice, but to no avail! Then management rents out the resort rooms by the day, only for 2000p to families of 8-10 people who overload the pool and make much noise well into the night and leave a mess that is not cleaned up well into the next day. They also let the water section and local pool people walk through the resort section. This is not a resort atmosphere! There are also red ants on the patio area. But the straw that broke the camels back was when they insisted That I pay for a clean towel after they did not clean my room after three days… “I’m so sorry, I cannot recommend anyone waste their hard earned money on this dump, unless you like being cheated by the management.” I have traveled all over the world and yes I have been cheated a time or two, but these people simply are not ready for “western travelers!” It is a pity, because the property has great potential. It’s 22 units, nicely laid out with a nice patio 8 tables overlooking an infinity pool and a nice view of the straits of Cebu, Camotes Island and the port of Danao… charming view… but the managements attitudes and demeanor and lies can very quickly ruin get-a-way and they fail to realize the expense and time to get to a destination like this, let alone the hour haul from Cebu and back. Time for new management! Disgruntled traveler
