Forest Park in Dahilayan, Bukidnon

Located 4,700 feet above sea level, Forest Park in Brgy. Dahilayan, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon is one of the best places to spend a day with the whole family. It is located meters away from its sister company, Zip-zone Dahilayan Adventure Park, which holds the record of Asia’s Longest Dual Zipline at 840 meters.

Inside the Forest Park, one can enjoy in the playground, and eat in the picnic ground or cafe. They also cater to other adventures such as ATV (all-terrain vehicle) rides and riding the zorb ball, named as Zorbit. The entrance to the Forest Park is only P50.00 for adults and P20.00 for children 10 years old and below. The prices may change a bit by the time you read this.

The lush greeneries of pine trees and bushes, much similar to Baguio City and most areas of high-altitude Bukidnon such as Kaamulan Grounds, makes one breath the freshest air and feel relax. Although there are some who feels uncomfortable due to the change in temperature and humidity (and they are advised to bring their own jackets), people in general feel more invigorated from the clean and calm environment.

Forest Park Picnic Table

Forest Park Picnic Table

Families can have their picnics at the table or ground under the thick shade of the pine trees. Concrete replica of animals including bears, giraffes, kangaroos and deers makes it more forest-like.

Since its launch in 2009, owner Elpidio M. Paras, added horseback riding, mini-boat ski ride, wall climbing, ATV rides, Zorb balls, rope course challenges and more to his Forest Park and Zip-Zone. They have 150, 320 and 840-meter zipline rides at maximum speeds of 70-90 kilometers per hour at the foot of Kitanglad Mountain Range. Zipzone and Forest Park has been visited by hundreds of thousands of adventurers, including a courageous 2 year old and a 77 year old grandpa.

Zipline is no longer new to a lot of people in the Philippines. It can be found in different areas of the country: Doce Pares Zipline (200 and 400-meters) in Cebu, Zipline in Maria Cristina Falls (several different short-distant rides) in Iligan, Danao Zipline Adventures in Bohol, Camp Sabros Zipline (820-meters) in Davao and a lot more.

Most tourists, local and foreign alike, decides to stay and eat at the Forest Park after they try the heart-pounding Zipline along a foggy terrain with breathtaking views in a superman position. After resting for a while, they can try horse-back riding at the nearby Botanica, riding the Zorb (an inflatable bouncing ball) similar to Ride the Zorb in Boracay, for a small amount and then ride the ATV for only P400/round (3.1 kilometers).

Movie Scene: Forever And A Day (by Sam Milby and KC Concepcion)

To trigger the adventurous sides of Sam and KCā€™s characters – Eugene and Raffy respectively – in the movie Forever And A Day plus elicit a strong romantic flavor, both actors had to do the extreme sports themselves. This included doing the zipline (and all of its 28 takes) and whitewater rafting in Cagayan de Oro. But Sam and KC were unfazed. Both of them even had to dress-down and hardly wore make-up at all, a departure for their glammed-up screen roles in the past. Both indeed have gone out of their comfort zones, all for delineating what could be career-defining roles of their lives. The Sam we never saw and the KC we never knew.

Tour Package

Dahilayan Forest Park offers a Day Tour Package of P1,200.00 per person inclusive of three zipline rides, roundtrip shuttles from Cagayan de Oro to Dahilayan, set lunch and snacks.

How to get there

There are regular flights and ships from Manila and Cebu to Cagayan de Oro (CDO). Take the BuDa (Bukidnon-Davao) Highway then turn right on the Alae Junction (this will be a bit tricky so try asking for directions from locals). Hi Mark,

how much is the entrance fee now at Forest Park. I’ve been there 2 years ago and it was still PhP50 for adults. Everything inside was still free except if you order food. Are the picnic tables still free and are we still allowed to bring food from outside? thanks

  14. lucy says:

How many hours po from Davao papunta dyan sa Dahilayan? Meron po ba package tour from Davao to that place?

  15. bart says:

Been here last week. The place is amazing! Got to try the dual zipline package (costs about Php 600/head), 3 ziplines in all (including the 840 meter zipline). The Forest Park is ideal for picture-taking. I felt I was in Baguio.

@Denz: I don’t think there’s a place nearby to stay overnight (that’s a con, since the travel to and fro is very long and bumpy)

Just visit their websites. They now have accommodations at Forest Park, Dahilayan Adventure Park and at the Dahilayan gardens and resort. we stayed at Dahilayan Gardens and resort 2 years ago since there was still no accommodation at the other 2 parks. it was still 5.5k per cottage. you get the entire cottage for your self(2 rooms with fireplace).
