San Pedro Cathedral in Davao City

The San Pedro Cathedral is the oldest church in Davao City, Davao, Philippines. It was named after San Pedro (Saint Peter), the patron saint of Davao. The original structure was built in 1847 during the Spanish period led by the Spanish Conquistador Don Jose Uyanguren, the San Pedro Cathedral is one of the city’s first establishments for worship. The current church that can be seen at the corners of San Pedro St and C.M. Recto Avenue is a modern design with a unique frontal curved-concept made from solid concrete. The old altar of the San Pedro Church is preserved in the right wing of the cathedral which features antique images and relics of Saint Peter and other saints.

Regular activities such as Catholic Life in the Spirit Seminar are held in the San Pedro Cathedral Parish Auditorium. The church is also asking to support the “Mission Society of the Philippines (MSP)” and the “No to Reproductive Health Bill”.

One of the very notable sights at San Pedro Cathedral is the bell tower which housed an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary and The Ten Commandments of God in the garden. There is a statue of the Mother Mary putting the dead body of Jesus on her lap.

  2. Mae Bangayan says:

Hi, good morning. We were living in Davao City until our High School days. We were baptized and confirmed there. However, since college, we are now based here in Quezon City. My brother is getting married in April in one of the churches in Pasig City. Is there any way we can get a copy of our baptismal and confirmation certificates without having to physically go there? Budget is really tight so we couldn’t afford to go there right now just to get the certificates needed for a church wedding. Please do get back to me as soon as possible.

Only Dick Marvin’s certificates are needed immediately (by March 10), but I prefer to get a copy of all our baptismal and confirmation certificates to avoid delays in the future.

    Thank you so much!
