Lantaw Floating Native Restaurant

Are you looking for a restaurant to dine which is away from the hustle and bustle of the city? A restaurant where you can enjoy good food, different ambiance, great Cebu City view on one-side and mangrove forests on the other side?

I am talking about Lantaw Floating Native Restaurant.

Lantaw according to http://translate.sandayong.com/cebuano/english/lantaw means “can be seen from a distance”, a name that fits since the restaurant offers a panoramic view of Cebu City. Lantaw Floating Native Restaurant is slowly gaining popularity ever since it opened last June 2012. It is a floating outdoor restaurant located in Day-as Cordova, Mactan, Cebu.

We celebrated our 5th anniversary as boyfriend-girlfriend with now my wife, Lisa along with our son Sam in Lantaw. We already knew from our friends that it is best to have a reservation prior to visiting the restaurant as the place could get packed, especially at night and on weekends. But my wife and I decided not to make any reservation and instead went there early.

We were not so sure about the exact place so we asked the locals and true enough they know how to get there. It was around 5:30 when we arrived at Day-as Wharf and we had to pay an entrance fee. P10 for a 4-wheel-vehicles, P5 for a 2-wheel-vehicles and P1 per pedestrian. Mangroves can be found on both sides.

Indeed, Lantaw Floating Native Restaurant offers a different ambiance and the staff warmly received us. We were lucky, as there were available outdoor tables. They offered us a couch table, which was located where we could best appreciate the view. The restaurant is good for kids as they have high chairs available and they even have wheel chairs in case somebody would need it.

My son enjoyed talking with the staff even if he still doesn’t know a lot of words since he is still 1 year  and 8 months. Because the restaurant is located in Mactan where the Mactan International Airport is located, we saw airplanes flying by closely. SAM even gets terrified.

We ordered the following food:

Calamares – P210

Garlic Buttered Prawns – P180

Original Bacolod Chicken BBQ – P130

Extra Rice- P30

Cordova Cooler(small) –  P110

The food that we ordered were delicious. They also offer other native foods like tinolang manok, sinuglaw, tinolang tahong among many others. They even have fresh fruit shakes from THIRSTY since the restaurant is owned and operated by the same company behind THIRSTY, Pages Holdings Inc(PHI).

As night falls, the view of Cebu City becomes more beautiful and romantic with the city lights and people started coming in. I guess it would be best to visit the place at night but make sure to make your reservations first or you would have to wait.
