Photos of Surigao City’s Downtown

One of the most notable cities in the Mindanao region, Surigao boasts itself as one of the safest and cleanest cities in the country. People from all walks of life are friendly and helpful, especially if you ask them for the location of certain restaurants and tourist spots. Based from the Spanish style of positioning establishments in a City, similar to Cebu, Bacolod, Davao, etc, Surigao City downtown houses most of the institutions the locals and tourists need. The Surigao Del Norte Provincial Capitol and the Surigao City Hall is just a couple of kilometers apart but most of the notable spots are near the latter. Surigao City downtown is located near the sea port, which is the gateway going to the famous Siargao Island.

Used during social gatherings such as meetings and presentations, the Surigao City Auditorium can house thousands of people. A more notable tourist spot is the Luneta Park (similar name to the one in Manila), which is often visited by locals for an afternoon stroll. Located just a few meters from the City Hall, kids often skate at the park and dance groups sometimes do their practices here.

Malls, Supermarkets and well-known fast-food chains such as Jollibee and McDonalds are in Surigao City. The San Nicholas Parish and a huge Shoe structure are also noticeable in the area.
