Sen. Jose C. Locsin Cultural and Civic Center

The Sen. Jose C. Locsin Cultural and Civic Center is also known as the tourist information office of Silay City. It was named after Jose C. Locsin, a successful medical practitioner born in Silay, Negros, Philippines in 1890. He became a Senator in 1951 as a staunch Nacionalista Party member. He married Salvacion Montelibano with whom he had 17 children.

The Civic Center is under the Silay Tourism Division. It is nearby the City Library and in the same block with the City Park. It is fronting the Silay City Hall and about 150 meters away from San Diego Pro-Cathedral Church. On one side is the City Council Building of Silay.

A small office where one can ask questions’ regarding tourism in the city is available on one door and a spacious auditorium which holds theatrical shows, events, exhibits and the likes can be visited by entering the other door.

The Sen. Jose C. Locsin Cultural and Civic Center is mainly focused on promoting tourism and community affairs in the historic city with the slogan “Rediscover Silay”.
